Can't Hurt Me David Goggins

Can’t Hurt Me Review

The book assignment for May was Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins.

Overview

This book is basically an autobiography about the life of David Goggins and how he went from an abusive home, to extreme poverty, dealt with racism, lost 100 lbs in three months, joined the navy seals, and becomes an accomplished ultra marathon runner. Oh and he did it all while having a hole in his heart without even knowing.

It shows how no matter where you come from, no matter the challenges you face that if you work hard enough and push yourself you can accomplish whatever you set your heart on. You can accomplish your dreams and overcome any obstacle. But, it is up to you to put in the hard work and force yourself to become something greater.

In this book the author tells his story and while doing it brings up examples and showcases how you can overcome your challenges and how you can become better.

After every chapter there is a challenge about how you can better yourself and change your life. Some examples of these challenges are:

  • Cutting out the fat in your life
  • Pushing past your perceived limits
  • Using sticky notes and a mirror to hold yourself accountable and show you reality
  •  Laying out your faults, weaknesses, and failures
  • Expanding your comfort zone
  • And others

Each chapter has a challenge at the end which encompasses the preceding chapter. It really pushes you in a now holds barred way and motivates you to push past your barriers and realize your full potential.

Review

This book is great for motivating you and showing you that your limits and your station in life are only perceived barriers. It shows you through David’s life that you can do so much better and crush your barriers in order to become your best self.

I highly recommend this book to readers looking for more in life. People looking for motivation and craving something more.

This book has made me take a better look at myself and showed me that I can become anything I want. It will be hard, but it will be worth it. This man has accomplished so much and he had so many difficulties. Through seeing his examples I know that I can overcome any obstacle that I am faced with. It will not be easy. In fact it will be hard as hell. But, I will set my mind to it and I will prevail.

To quote David himself: “To grow in life, be willing to suffer”

Are you willing to suffer? To grow and become everything in this life that you should be.
