The challenge for August is to make your bed every morning. Yes, make your bed. Just like your mother always used to tell you.
Why you should make your bed every morning
What your parent’s used to tell you is right. It is important to make your bed every morning.
Now I know what you’re thinking. It seems like a waste of time and it’s just gonna get messed up again every night that you sleep in it. Well that’s not the point.
You also may have been lucky enough to have had this habit ingrained into you when you were little so you might do this automatically now.
Well, that was not the case with me. I never made my bed. Until now.
Making your bed starts the day off with a win. You start the day having already accomplished something. Even though it’s an easy and menial task it still matters. It’s still a win and it creates momentum. You can use that momentum to keep moving forward accomplishing task after task. And even if you get nothing else done the rest of the day, at least you made your bed.
What I’ve experienced so far with this is that it just feels nice to have your bed made in the morning. It gives you a feeling of order when your bed is made. Like everything is how it should be. So puff up your chest a little, you started the day right by making your bed. Now the rest of the day is yours to master.
I’ll leave it at that for now and come back to review the challenge once the month is done. I hope you will jump on board and start making your bed every morning. There’s no telling what else we’ll accomplish having started the day right by making our beds.
Like this post, comment if you made your bed this morning, subscribe to the blog, and share this with your parents, they might get a laugh out of it and say, “I told you so!”
